Yanglukou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by the No. 3 Coalfield Prospecting Party of Hunan Province. The naming section is located in the Fengjiachong-Yanglukou area of Lingling County, Hunan Province.

Lithology and Thickness
The formation is composed of a rhythmic layering of grey-white medium-, and thick-bedded arkosic quartz-sandstones and purple silty mudstones, containing locally marl lenses, with its basal part consisting of grey-white thick-bedded conglomerates, with a thickness of about 184-230 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation is in a disconformable contact with the underlying Shixijiang Fm
Upper contact
No top has been encountered. Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates the next younger unit as Jielongqiao Fm
Regional extent
It distributed in the Yanglukou area of Lingling County, the Shajing area of Qiyang County, the Yaolong area of Liuyang County, the Shiliutang area of Hengshan County and the Zhoushi area of Hengyang County, Hunan Province. The lithology of the formation is alike and consistent from place to place, and with a thickness varying commonly in a range from 100 m to about 200 m, and with a maximum thickness being of 940 m in the Zhetangpu area. The base of the formation everywhere has the conglomerate or sandy conglomerate as a boundary between it and the underlying strata.

Fossils
It yields bivalve fossils as represented by the Lamprotula-Psilunio assemblage, whose important members comprise Lamprotula (Eolamprotula) cf. cremeri, Psilunio ovalis, P. chaoi; in addition, there are found to occur also Unio yunnanensis, Cuneopsis sichuanensis, Pseudocardinia cf. yunnanica, P. cf. kweichouensis and P. cf. ovalis in the Shajing area of Qiyang County and the Yanglukou area of Lingling County.

Depositional setting
The formation is interpreted as fluvial-lacustrine deposits.
